When a publication is checked out, its reading fee is charged to the membership account. Members can keep the publications only for 14 days. If book is not returned within 14 days, a late fee of 2% of the MRP of the book is charged daily until the book is returned, renewed or marked as ready to return. When a book is renewed, reading fee is charged again and members get another 14 days. Pay-on-time plan does not come with free delivery or collection. Members can return the books to the library or mark them as ready to return. If other members are waiting for the book, member must return them to the library to avoid late fees. The caution deposit amount for pay-on-time plan is a minimum of 500 rupees. The total price of all the books borrowed must be within the security deposit amount.

Pay-In-Advance Plan

Every month membership account is debited with 200 rupees as advance reading fee and is credited to an account called ‘plan’ within the membership. When books are borrowed, its reading fee is deducted from this plan account. If at any point, if more reading fee than what is left in the plan is used, the same amount is recovered from the membership account immediately. Monthly advance reading fee is charged if there are any checked out books on a membership in issued or issue-pending status. Reading fee paid in advance is never refunded as cash. Members get free delivery if library makes the delivery as part of their scheduled trip to the location of the member else a delivery fee is charged. If a trip is made to a member address only to collect books but not to deliver, a collection fee is charged. A late fee is charged on a daily basis for every publication that is on circulation for more than 180 days. If a member does not want to continue with pay-in-advance plan, they must inform library to cancel the plan. Any reading fee refund is always credited to the plan and not to the membership account.

Checkout Cancellations

If members want a checkout to be reversed, they must inform the library. Library reserves the right to reverse a checkout at any time.

When a membership is reopened, any non-paid balance will have to be paid in order to continue.

Trip (delivery/collection) fee

Trip fee, if applicable, is the fee for delivering and or collecting books to/from member addresses. If a trip is failed because of the member fault, trip fee may still be charged if applicable. Members will not be charged a trip fee if a delivery/collection cannot be made because of LetUsRead fault. Monthly plan members get free delivery if the books are delivered as part the library’s scheduled delivery to that location. There is a delivery/collection fee for any trip that is made to the member location outside the library’s scheduled delivery to that location. If monthly plan members are returning all the books and not receiving any books, the member is charged for the trip to collect the last set of books from the member.

Delivery/collection services

While LetUsRead makes every effort to promptly deliver/collect books to/from members, the service should not be considered as a promised service. This is because of uncertainties involved with courier services with whom LetUsRead have ties. Library cannot be held liable for any loss in fees (reading or late) because of materials not being delivered/collected on time. LetUsRead should not be held liable for any lapse in delivery/collection services. Picking and dropping of books is solely a member responsibility and LetUsRead is only offering a delivery/collection service at its discretion.

Regular delivery of books

Members can opt for regular delivery of books especially for children books. These books are delivered during library’s scheduled trip to the location of the member. There is no guaranteed frequency of trips. So, members are advised to take as many books as they may need for around two months. Libraries select children books from member wish list if books are available else library selects books according to children’s age and gender. Members are supposed to return as many books as possible from the previous set each time. If no books are returned and new set of books are delivered, members are charged with 50% of the reading fee of all the outstanding books as lost circulation fee. If members do not want new set of books they must inform the library before the delivery is made in which case lost circulation fee is not charged. Members should return all the books before 180 days else a late fee is charged on a daily basis if not returned.

Quality of materials

Sole discretion lies with the library in deciding whether a material has the quality for circulation. No dispute is accepted from members with the quality of the material.

Age of materials

We get books from different sources; publishers, our members, other libraries, book stores etc. While we circulate only those copies that we determine as readable, the condition of books may not be as good as a new book. Complaints from members are not accepted regarding the conditions of books.

Damages

All of the publications are sent and returned in protective covers. If a publication is returned in damaged condition as a result of member misuse, the library has the right to charge the member with a damage fee or full lost fee depending on the extent of the damage. However, if the library determines that a book was damaged during the courier service, member will not be charged. Frequent complaints about getting damaged books are not entertained as we make sure publications are fit for circulation before they are put on circulation. Every book is scanned for damages when they are returned and the damages are entered into the system. This helps us to determine whether a new damage is an existing damage or a new damage.

Membership setup fee

An one-time lefe-time membership setup fee of 500 rupees is charged to a membership when the memberships is closed. Any caution deposit is refunded only after deducting the membership setup fee.

Book sharing

Shared books are the sole property of the library once a member hands them over to the library. The owner is only eligible to get their share of the reading fee of the books and the same should be used only towards paying for reading fee. Cash redemption of the reading fee share of the shared books is not allowed. Owners are not eligible to get the share of late or damage fees.

Credit/Debit charges

Library can add credit/debit charges to a membership for a reason. Members will be informed through Email of such charges.
